Opera Headshots for Soprano Natalie Samfiru

OVERVIEW

Natalie Samfiru, a soprano currently completing her Bachelor of Music at Western University, came to the studio for a series of professional headshots to support both her academic and professional pursuits. She needed professional headshots for upcoming performances, playbills, and an exciting summer apprenticeship opportunity.

APPROACH

Natalie’s brief was clear: she wanted imagery that reflected her individuality and creativity while staying aligned with the standards and expectations of opera and performance headshots. We designed a session that blended artistry with professionalism, using a hand-painted Oliphant backdrop to tie in her expressive, timeless style subtly.

Lighting was kept clean and directional — a nod to the standards of classical playbill portraiture — ensuring her personality remained the focal point.

RESULTS

We selected three final images to capture the range of Natalie’s presentation (as seen above):

  • One warm and inviting, perfect for programs or public-facing materials.

  • Two playful yet polished portrait that celebrates Natalie’s charm and individuality for lighter or creative projects.

  • Three sophisticated and strong, ideal for auditions and professional submissions.

Each image reflects a different facet of her as an artist, confident, grounded, and full of potential.
